Deirdre is a registered Naturopath who has been in practice for nearly 20 years. She also has a degree in Nursing and Midwifery, and another degree in Psychology. Her 15-year nursing career has given her a good background in medical knowledge, and her Psychology studies have reaffirmed the importance of good mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
Deirdre’s philosophy is that a healthy mind promotes a healthy body, and a healthy body promotes healthy mental and emotional wellbeing. It is an ever-changing cycle. She also incorporates iridology and kinesiology into her treatment program, using these two modalities to access the underlying emotional and mental currents that effect the body and trigger disease.
During her 20 years’ experience in the field of naturopathy, Deirdre has had the fortunate opportunity to work with integrated doctors who are happy to combine natural medicine with orthodox medicine so that the patient gets the best of both worlds. Testing is an integral part of therapy, as it gives a measure of treatment and detoxification goals. Deirdre refers her clients for extensive blood testing, hair analysis for toxic metals, gut microbiome testing, food allergy testing, hormone measurements, full thyroid profiling, and many other functional tests available. She is also qualified in Nutrigenomics, having certification under the Fitgenes program, and can offer genetic testing to identify her clients’ inborn genetic weaknesses and strengths.
Deirdre believes that this type of testing is useful to have done before and after a naturopathic detoxification program. “Amalgam fillings cause a build-up of toxic mercury in all the cells and tissues of the body, leading to issues in all organs and systems of the body. It is important to individualise this detox process because some people are not able to release these toxins as easily as others, depending on their liver, kidney, and gut functions.”
